When I was younger, I would write thank you notes to artists that had inspired me. Recently, I saw
Loney, Dear at Spaceland and though before I saw them live, I was pretty obsessed, afterward, I was beyond. I just couldn't get over it. I had to tell
Emil (who really
is Loney, Dear though he tours with a band) how wonderful his music is. Thus, a thank you card was sent, just like old times. (That was before I blogged about everything I do or I would've posted it here, obvi.)
Anyway, another band, I've been meaning to write is
Airborne Toxic Event, and after listening to them on full blast in my car all weekend, I finally did. Here it is:

Their name is a literary reference and the lead singer Mikel Jollett is a writer, so I thought an envelope lined with a page of a short story would be appropriate.

Also, check out the sweet stamps my Grams sent me.

The one bummer about trying to thank artists that have "made it" is that their addresses are rarely made available. I'd sort of forgotten about this, and after putting all this together, I couldn't find a mailing address for them anywhere.
It was becoming sad, but on the band's website was a little text box to send them a message.
I have little faith in such text boxes and so wrote:
Is there a mailing address for the band/mgmt company? I've written an adorable thank you note to them and would like to send it. thanks!
But within a couple of hours, Steven, from the band had written me back with the address to their manager. Yay! So glad I don't have to send this blindly into the universe.
